Description
I don't completely understand this menu. It is dated Tuesday, September 8th, 1942 luncheon on board the M. S. Kamakura Maru, a Japanese passenger ship that was commandeered for the military during World War II. It was also called the Chichibu Maru. One of the offerings was "Tunny Fish Curry with Steamed Rice," and another was "Pointe de Boeuf with Diced White Radish." I don't know who was on board during this trip. The ship was sunk by the American forces during World War II causing a loss of over 2,000 Japanese military men. This menu is in very nice condition. On the back there is a pink stain along the edge of the left side. At the bottom is a brief essay titled "Yoritomo's First Campaign" in English. The menu is 7 & 1/2" by 5 & 3/8".
