Description

Souvenir postcards issued by the Japanese Imperial Railways for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. A high quality card on very heavy stock, the image surface is done in a "linen" style meant to suggest a fabric such as that commonly used for Japanese screens. While not specifically marked as such, the back printing is similar to that of the "Phostint" cards produced by Detroit Publishing, which suggest they printed these for the Japanese Government. Postally unused, light signs of corner wear from storage. The bottom two corners show light bend/crease, visible from the back. The upper right corner shows some paper damage, possibly from insects (just visible in our image). Regardless, a scarce and not all that commonly seen card. I am also offering a nicer condition copy separately.
