He Made It Safe to Murder: The Life of Moman Pruiett. By Harold K. Berry. Hardcover, brand new, still in shrink-wrap, pub. 2001, 700 pages. Moman Pruiett was an Oklahoma legend in the legal field, convicted himself of felony before admittance to the bar. Of 343 cases he obtained 303 acquittals with only one receiving the death penalty (ultimately pardoned). He achieved most of the acquittals through bribery, perjury, and other illegal means. Berry's biography is the original version of the one that was published by Pruiett in the 1940s with much of the original material excised by Pruiett. A must for any Oklahoma legal history collection. Shipping weight over 2 pounds.
