    Description

    Carpopenaeus sp.
    Shrimp
    Lower Cretaceous
    Hadjoula& Hakel Quarries, Lebanon
I’ve seen a lot of low quality shrimp material from Lebanon for sale. Most have virtually no fossil and a LOT of paint. You can easily identify them. They just look fake.
This is the exception. Take a 10x lens to this piece and marvel at the natural detail. NO PAINT, NO RESTORATION. This one is the real thing. Look carefully and you can see the antennae, legs and the individual tail parts. This is a great piece.
    The slab measures roughly 3 x 3-½
inches, the Shrimp about 30 mm. There is a second, less complete specimen on the piece, and a partial fish.
    Specimen # 05.14.16-1
Payment must be received within 6 days of auction closing. I can combine shipments where it will not risk damage to the specimens. For combined shipments, please allow me to bill you to minimize transactions.
Priority mail is my preferred option for many pieces. The USPS supplies the boxes, the shipments are tracked, and the short handling time and rapid delivery are a big plus for customers. For some international shipments Priority can be quite expensive. In many cases First Class International makes more sense. For international shipments I will usually lits items under 4 lb. as First Class. For some items I will automatically package, First Class for all destinations. If that is the case I will already have reflected this in the expected shipping and handling. S&H includes a handling and supplies charge to cover costs above actual shipping.
Note to International Buyers: For Fossil and Mineral Specimens, I always use the Customs Code 9705.00.00.91 for fossil and mineral collectables. By international agreement that should make them duty free, however I have no control over individual customs offices and how they interpret the rules. In addition some countries assess a VAT. All pricing and shipping/handling is exclusive of Duty and/or VAT, which will be the responsibility of the purchaser. By law I am obligted to fill out customs forms accurately.
    Good Luck
