Antique 1873 Land Deed-Greene County Ga-Adkins Oglethorpe Cnty-All Hand-Written

Description

Offered is this antique land deed from Greene County, Georgia, dated December 16, 1873. The document records a transfer of land between two people. The first name is difficult to read; the last name of the second party is Adkins-of Oglethorpe County-but I'm not sure what Adkins' first name is. The usual county clerk information is on the back. Unlike many deeds I have seen, this one is entirely hand-written on one page of blank paper, not on a pre-printed form. The paper has an embossed "M" at the top. (I'm not sure why since neither last name begins with M.)
The document is approx. 10" x 8". It is in good condition for its age. Because it has been folded several times some tears have developed on the document edges at the fold lines. The paper is somewhat foxed or spotted. The text is still dark enough to be readable, although the handwriting is not completely legible.
