1915 Panama Exposition Bell 1796 El Camino Real San Francisco World Fair

Rare antique brass souvenir from the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco, California that celebrated the completion of the Panama Canal and San Francisco's recovery from the Great Earthquake. This figural metal souvenir depicts a California Bear on top of a brass frame with a brass bell in the center. The brass bell is inscribed "1769 EL CAMINO REAL". The sides of the metal frame are inscribed "1915 - PANAMA - EXPOSITION - SAN FRANCISCO". El Camino Real relates to San Diego being the first American port that a ship would come to going throught the Panama Canal. El Camino Real was the road that went from San Diego to Los Angeles to San Francisco. The back is inscribed "1915", and the underside of the base is inscribed "PAT. APLD. FOR". This old World's Fair souvenir stands 4" tall by 3.25" wide and 1.25" deep. The bell still gives a good tinkling ring and it's in very good condition for its 100 + years. Very rare, very unique, and very collectible for any California or World's Fair collection.
