    REDUCED.  1900S BACCHANTE CAMEO Sash Pin Brass Setting of Leaves w/ Hand Carved Shell Cameo Bacchante Goddess w/ Grapes & Leaves 2 3/4" 1890 C Clasp w/ Necklace Option. One of a Kind Gorgeous  with converter & necklace.
    Vintage Hand Carved Large, 1 1/2 " X 1 " in 2 3/4" x 1 7/8" Brass setting. . She is a Bacchante Cameo, with grape leaves in her hair. Dictionary.com defines Bacchante as " a priest, priestess, or votary of Bacchus; bacchanal. a drunken reveler. inclined to revelry."
    "Identifying Brooches" states: " Sash Pin. This is a type of pin used to secure a sash at a lady's hip during the late 1800s when the fad of wearing a sash over the shoulder and across bosom (imitating Queen Victoria) or around the waist became popular. Most examples have very thick pin stems to allow for penetrating several layers of fabric."
    The setting is an awesome Art Deco Flourish of 3-D raised natural bend leaves Brass art all be itself! Option offered of 22" adjustable brass tone Necklace.  As the original maker of antique brooch put 1890 C clasp in center of back, that would cause cameo to tip forward as a pendant; so I have added a small piece of Scotch tape to top back to prevent tipping. Hangs great now. If you are sure you never will want to wear this as a brooch, I will permanently glue converter for you. Just say so in purchase memo. Presently, you can wear as a necklace; or you can wear it as a brooch by temporarily removing pendant convertor.
    All I did here was add a beautiful vintage hand carved Bacchante cameo to opening in Sash Pin.
    Brooch Measures 2 1/2" by 1 7/8 ", raised 1/4". Thick pin stem & 1890 C clasp brooch.
